ABOUT ME

Parasit Studio is run by me, Fredrik Lyxzén. I live in the north of Sweden, outside Umeå. Since around 2009 I make my living mostly as a freelance sound engineer, both live and in the studio. On my spare time I like to play with my band and be my family of four dogs (and a wife). I also like to tinker with pedals.

I'm a big nerd that loves sci fi, retro gaming and I also collect kung fu movies from the 70's.

I started my first band when I was 12 years old, and ever since then I've been playing in various punk and hardcore bands here in Umeå, such as Ambulance and UX Vileheads.

My current band (since 2018) is called Left Hand of Darkness that I play drums in. We play a mix of fast hardcore and blackened neo crust.

PEDAL HISTORY

In around 2010 I started building pedals to practice my soldering. I initially wanted to build DIY equipment for my studio, but I fell into the rabbit hole haha... I didn't know any electronics at first and built DIY kits and stripboard layouts. I quickly grew an interest in electronics and started to learn how the circuits works by reading books and watching countless hours or electronics videos (I still consume hours of electronics videos every week).

I started modding circuits and eventually began to come up with my own circuits that gravitated towards synthy and weird stuff. I started sharing my designs on my studio website in the spirit of DIY. Then people started asking me for circuit boards so I set up a small webshop and over the years it has grown into a small business, especially thanks to my cooperation with Musikding, and more recently Smallbear Electronics.

People also began to ask for fully assembled pedals, so I started building a few selected pedals to always have in stock. I build pedals as often as I can, but my main focus/interest is still DIY and coming up with new circuits.

I've built a few special requests over the years for friends and family (birthdays gifts ect.), but nowadays I say no to most custom requests as it takes too much time. The pedal development/building is something I do more or less of in periods. It depends on how much time I have over in between my live mixning, studio recordings and studio mixning.

Please consider making a small donation if you use my stripboard layouts, or buy something in the shop. Thanks!

RECORDING STUDIO

Parasit Studio is also the name of my recording studio.

I've been recording bands since the early 2000's and over the years it has grown into a semi-professional home recording studio, mostly focused on punk, hardcore and other alternative music.

I have mixed and mastered alot of other peoples recordings as well and over 30 records has been released on vinyl.

There was an error. Please try again.
Thank you! I will get back to you as soon as I can.

CONTACT

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, need help troubleshooting your build or want help with a PCB layout, or just wanna chat about pedals, schematic or nerd stuff.

Just keep in mind that I have limited time in between my freelance work, family and the pedal related business, so it can take a while for me to reply if I'm away from home working. I usually work long days away from home on weekends but I try to reply as soon as I can. / Fredrik
